First Aiders (SST) are trained personnel here to provide initial care in the event of illness or injuries happening on the CERN site, before any further medical attention can be provided.
Following a change of policy CERN-wide, First Aiders are now nominated by the Departments.

In addition, all personnel working at CERN can now attend a 3h training on basic first aid actions: First Aid - Life-Saving Actions. All is encouraged to attend to gain the skills and confidence required to become an actor in case of medical emergency.
