CERN’s mission calls for a highly qualified and motivated workforce whose knowledge and skills are continuously developed to meet the evolving needs of the Organization and whose technical and behavioural competencies match the requirements of their functions. CERN is committed to the continuous development of all its employed members of the personnel (hereafter MPEs) through a systematic and sustained learning culture that enables them to fulfil their professional potential within a dynamic and challenging work environment.

In the context of implementing a modern HR Strategy for CERN and setting up a dedicated HR Centre of Expertise (COE) for Staff Recruitment, this paper outlines a proposed Recruitment & Sourcing policy for CERN founded on the following five principles:

CERN’s Diversity Policy is based on the three principles of “appreciating differences, fostering equality and promoting collaboration” which are drawn from CERN’s Diversity value.
The policy aims at achieving an optimally diverse workforce; the creativity and innovation that comes from a diversity of ideas and perspectives; and a work environment that reflects the diversity value in all policies, procedures and practice.
