CERN benefits

Only for employed members of the personnel, scientific associates and guest professors paid by CERN

CERN pays specific education fees for a child with disabilities who:

• is unable to meet the requirements of an educational establishment under normal conditions,
• requires supervision in a specialised institution after completing full-time education.

The procedure for obtaining recognition of a child's disability by CERN is explained in the Admin e-guide, section Social conditions, Social protection (requires CERN login).

Only for members of CHIS with normal coverage

CHIS can pay an allowance when there is a recognition of a permanent state of dependency (long-term care) or reduced earning capacity (see CHIS Rules - 01 May 2023 (cern.ch)) for an adult child proving a reduced earning capacity.
